There is no time more joyful than the holiday season-- and probably no time busier. With all the hubbub of partying, visiting family and managing to get each and every loved one presents, many of us find ourselves neglecting healthy habits. Ginger Juice is here to help make eating easier with (as always!) our convenience-minded wholesome food, and a few healthy eating tips we swear by:
- Pack ahead
One of the easiest ways to stop yourself from overindulging on goodies is to come prepared with your own healthy snacks. Whether it’s resisting the temptation of mall pretzels during a long day of shopping or the inevitable smorgasboard at every holiday party, bringing your own food makes it easy to fill up on the good stuff instead of caving in to the bad.
- Host healthier get togethers
Give the gift of healthy eating to friends and family by offering to host them this year! That way you can add more plant power to your meals, and make easy substitutions like kale salad instead of pasta salad, or fruit punch for real fruit and veggie juice cocktails.
- Make your first plate smaller
Everyone is guilty of it at one time or another-- finishing a completely full plate and then realizing what you really wanted was a second serving of mashed potatoes. Instead of over filling yourself, make your first plate small with the intention that you can eat more if you’re really hungry. Then assess how full you feel before grabbing seconds to keep your portion sizes smaller and avoid mindlessly eating more just because it’s on your plate.
- Let yourself enjoy!
The holiday season should be about fun and festivity, and while fruits and veggies can definitely be both, it just wouldn’t be the same without your great-grandma’s pumpkin pie recipe, or a creamy eggnog. Instead of completely holding back (and risk an all-out binge later on), enjoy in moderation. Try eating just a bite of all 3 different pies instead of one big slice.
So stop by Ginger Juice to stock up on our soups to bring home for the family and even bottles of juice for a healthy cocktail mixer. Then come kick off your new year with a juice cleanse to get you right back to healthy habits.
