Spotlight on Pitaya
Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted 6 more weeks of spring, but really it’s feeling more and more like spring every day-- and we’re definitely not complaining! There’s few things we love more than a sunny day and whole bunch of fruit and veggies to go with it. So to gear up for a whole lot more days in the sunshine, we’re rolling out a new bowl featuring our new favorite fruit: Pitaya! Also known as dragon fruit, pitaya is as healthy as it is beautiful, so we’re making a brand new bright pink acai bowl with it. And of course if it’s bright, bold color isn’t enough to draw you in, we’re sure some of these health benefits are enough to catch your eye:
- Boost immune system
Dragon fruit is naturally high in Vitamin C, a vitamin knowing for helping keep your immune system running strong. So skip the store bought supplements and get a serving or two of pitaya instead.
- Fight aging (and more!)
Many of the signs and symptoms of aging and health issues- everything from skin health to cardiovascular health to inflammation- are related to oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Luckily, like many other fruits and veggies, Pitaya is full of antioxidants to help neutralize these free radicals.
- Low calorie food!
At only 52 calories per 100 gram serving, dragon fruit is definitely a low calorie food-- plus it has less than half a gram of fat and 4 grams of fiber per serving, making it a great food to satiate you without the fat and calories you don’t want. Perfect for spring training for your summer body!
Come try this new super cute and superfood bowl in just one more week! We can’t wait to hear what you guys think!
